Pregnancy Hemorrhoids: Symptoms and Treatments
Although women are very susceptible to hemorrhoids during pregnancy, with a balanced diet, pregnancy caused hemorrhoids commonly vanish away on their own a couple of weeks after a woman gives birth.
However if the hemorrhoids bleed or have a purplish appearance you need to consult your doctor immediately. These symptoms can be a warning sign that a more serious problem is occurring in the body and cannot be cured by alternative treatments and home remedies.
On the other hand as long as neither of those symptoms have appeared, home remedies are the best method to ease the discomfort caused by hemorrhoids. While the hemorrhoids can vary from merely irritating all the way through to very painful there are many remedies you can use to get help with the condition.
1. Hot and Cold Compress
Most women find help from hot and cold compress. The hot treatment is a Sitz bath using plain, warm water. Sit in the bath for at least 20 minutes at a time, two or three times a day. After getting up from the bath make sure you dry the area with a soft, dry cloth and then apply an ice pack wrapped in a towel for a cold compress.
2. Toilet Tissue
Be sure to only use simple, unscented white toilet tissues or wipes. Some women use wipes dabbed with baby oil or witch hazel that they find has a relaxing toning effect.
3. Footstool
You may find it beneficial to help take away straining when having a bowel movement by sitting on the toilet and putting your feet up on a footstool.
4. Control sitting
Do not sit on the toilet for too long if you are experiencing constipation and are straining to release the stool. This straining will just make the hemorrhoids even worse.
In reality, you should avoid standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time, as this can also put tension in the rectal area.
5. Laying
Whenever you sleep, rest or watch TV, lie on your left side which should significantly aid in relieving some of the pressure on your hemorrhoids. This position will help to shift the weight and tension on the interior vena cava and the blood vessels in the rectal area.
6. Mild Exercise
Constant, mild exercise, such as a brisk walk for thirty minutes three to four times a week, helps significantly with both pregnancy and hemorrhoids. But before performing any kind of exercise regimen, consult your doctor and do slow exercise during the last quarter of pregnancy.

There is one kind of exercise , called the Kegel exercise, which basically is making a movement of the pelvis area. It also aids with pregnancy as well as hemorrhoids. Performing three reps of ten contractions and releases at least two to three times a day adds circulation in the area and helps the muscles get ready for giving birth and speeds up recuperation time after birth.
Kegel Technique
Identify your pelvic floor muscles, empty your bladder and sit or lie down. Then:
• Contract your pelvic floor muscles.
• Hold the contraction for three seconds then relax for three seconds.
• Repeat 10 times.
• Once you’ve perfected three-second muscle contractions, try it for four seconds at a time, alternating muscle contractions with a four-second rest period.
• Work up to keeping the muscles contracted for 10 seconds at a time, relaxing for 10 seconds between contractions.
To get the maximum benefit, focus on tightening only your pelvic floor muscles or isolating your pelvic floor muscles. Be careful not to flex the muscles in your abdomen, thighs or buttocks. Also, try not to hold your breath. Just relax, breathe freely and focus on tightening the muscles around your vagina and rectum. Perform a set of 10 Kegel exercises three times a day.
